About Me

My name is Jessica Thomson, a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)'s class of 2019 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in animation and a focus on environment/prop modeling. I am also practicing with rigging and some character modeling, which I will also be showing on this site. I primarily use Maya for both modeling for rigging, and Unreal Engine 4 for environment assembly. I also have experience using ZBrush, Photoshop, Substance Painter, and UV Layout, and am certified in 3DS Max.
For me, modeling is a way to bring fiction into reality. And not just stories and characters; anything you can imagine is fair game. For example, I made a model of my own room so I could know how best to arrange some new furniture without any heavy-lifting (link). These models let both creator and client see and adjust the final product before wasting precious time, resources, and money. Though being able to create stories and characters for your own is no less important! It feels like creating your own little world in a separate reality.
